The National Benevolent Fund for the Aged was founded to improve the quality of life for older people in the UK who live on a low income. NBFA does this by providing direct, practical assistance through the provision of emergency alarms, TENS pain relief machines and organises free holidays for older people. Listen to the NBFA’s Radio 4 Charity AppealThis Sunday 3rd May, Baroness Betty Boothroyd will present the NBFA’s Radio 4 Charity Appeal. The first broadcast will be at 7.55am, and there will be rebroadcasts at 9.26pm the same day, and 3.27pm on Thursday 7th May. Royal Parks Half Marathon![]() The new Royal Parks Half Marathon, sponsored by Brakes, will be held on Sunday 12 October 2008, starting and finishing in Hyde Park. The route winds through Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James's Park and along the River Thames amongst avenues of beautiful autumnal trees, taking in superb views of Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Marble Arch, the London Eye and the Royal Albert Hall. Around 1,000 people are expected to take part raising funds for many different charities - why not join them and raise funds (and have fun!) for NBFA? If you are over 60 years old, on a low income, not had a holiday for at least 3 years, able to get on and off a coach, manage steps & care for yourself and live near one of our pick-up points below, you could qualify for a FREE break.
